Stagnant and entrenched
India scored 38 on the 2024 Corruption Perceptions Index — virtually unchanged since 2012. The best score in Asia Pacific was 84. India's is 38. That gap isn't policy failure. It's structural rot. More than 62% of Indians have paid a bribe to a public official at some point. Corruption doesn't just steal money — it steals time, dignity, and the basic expectation that the system will work for you.

Deaths on Indian roads, every single day
India holds 1% of the world's vehicles but accounts for 11% of its road fatalities — the highest death count of any country on earth. Potholes kill. Wrong-side driving kills. Drunk driving kills. Untrained drivers kill. But the deeper truth is that roads are governance made visible. How a nation drives is how it governs — without rules, without consequence, without anyone owning what breaks.

A policy that bulldozed its own citizens
India ramped from 1.5% to 20% ethanol blending in just 11 years — faster than any nation in history. Millions of vehicles sold before March 2023 were only built for 5–10% blends. Drivers now report rough idling, hard starts, clogged filters and falling mileage. An insurer said engine damage from E20 in incompatible vehicles would not be covered. The government moved at policy speed. Citizens absorbed the cost at mechanic speed. Nobody owned the gap.

Rape conviction rate — the system doesn't follow through
Over 3 in 4 prosecuted rape cases in India end without accountability. Rajasthan leads at 16.4 reported cases per 100,000 women; Delhi at 12.9. These are reported figures — the actual number is invisibly larger because most cases never reach a police station. This is not a crime problem. It is a system that announces zero tolerance and delivers single-digit conviction rates. Women in India move through public space calculating risk constantly. That calculation has a cost.

Youth unemployment — 3× the national average
India recorded over 60,700 deaths by suicide in the 15–29 age group in 2020–22 — the highest in the world. GDP grows at 7–8%. Quality jobs don't. The two lines have stopped tracking each other. Educated young Indians — the demographic dividend this country has been celebrating for a decade — are working gig jobs, living with parents, delaying marriage, delaying life. Aspiration and opportunity have drifted so far apart that the gap itself has become a mental health crisis.

Of India's surface water is polluted
The government's own Smart Cities Mission — launched with fanfare in 2015, closed quietly in March 2025 — found that 80% of India's surface water is polluted, costing $6 billion every year in disease. Groundwater in Haryana has dropped 5.41 metres in 10 years. Farmers abandon land as wells run dry. Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru have all faced crises in recent years. This is not weather. This is decades of mismanagement with nobody's name on the signoff.

Urban voter turnout — educated India has stopped showing up
Spitting on walls. Jumping queues. Honking for sport. Dumping waste at the edge of public parks. These are not small things — they are symptoms of a society where public space belongs to nobody and therefore nobody is responsible for it. Urban turnout in cities like Bengaluru runs 15–20 points below state averages. Civic disengagement and civic indiscipline are the same problem wearing different clothes. When you don't believe the system works, you stop maintaining your part of it.

Monthly cost for a family of four — before school fees
A family of four in a metro needs approximately ₹98,000 a month for essentials — food, rent, utilities, transport. Food inflation is climbing back toward 4% with a below-normal monsoon forecast for 2026 threatening to push it higher. The Economic Survey FY2025–26 flagged mental health as a national crisis — then allocated almost nothing to fix it. The government is willing to name the problem. Not pay for solving it.
Every single one of these issues has the same root cause. Decisions made without ownership. Policies launched without maintenance. Problems named without anyone's signature on the solution. That is not a coincidence — it is a system designed for announcement, not accountability. TIP exists because India needs a different kind of politics: one that owns what it does, fixes what's broken before announcing what's next, and puts a verifiable score on every decision it makes.
What is TIP
Think India Party is built on a simple idea: trust has to be earned in public, not assumed behind closed doors. No dynasties deciding who leads. No backroom deals on what gets built. Every decision — including who represents TIP — is judged openly, by more than one set of eyes, and the reasoning is published, not buried.
It starts with a search. Not for the loudest voice in the room — but for the people already doing the unglamorous work of fixing what's broken around them, and giving them a real, visible path to lead.
